Steve - Fox Chapel Golf Club near Pittsburgh also mowes to green height in the front and back. Fox Chapel Golf Club will host this year's Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, one of the five majors of the Champions Tour in late June.

I played both Mid Pines and Pine needles which is right acrss the road. I found the green complexes at mid pines to be very interesting
but the course conditions were average at best. Pine needles, on the other hand was in pristine condition. Great course, but I was told that the greens were redone to accommodate the recent US womens open.
Nevertheless, both courses are a lot of fun to play. Interesting to see what your thoughts are on Southern Pines. I hear it is a great representation of Ross's work. Have fun.

Hector, I've not played a lot of courses in Pinehurst outside of the resort courses. Dormie is my favorite of all the courses I've played. I'm headed back down there in 3 weeks and will be playing Dormie again as well as Mid-Pines, Southern Pines and Whispering Woods. I'm planning to write profiles of all three of those courses when I get home.

Great pics. I was just there in October 2011 and thought the course was fantastic. I find it interesting that they let the fairways go dormant. I imagine that the fairways played very firm and fast.
I think it is one of the best courses in Pinehurst. What are your favorite courses outside of the Pinehurst Resort?

Hector,

I have tried a lot of golf shoes and have had a similar problem before. I found that in my case it was a mild form of tendonitis that was created from wearing golf shoes that were too big. If the foot is given too much room to "float" inside the shoe it can cause stress on tendons in the foot and result in some aches and pains. With properly fitting TRUES I have not had this problem. You might consider trying a 1/2 size smaller.

First, I want to say that I really enjoy reading your reviews. keep up the great work. With respect to the TRUE shoes, I have a pair and have played 10 to 20 rounds with them. All rounds played walking of course. My only issue with them is the lack of arch support. They are very comfortable while playing but found that my feet were sore a couple of days later. Have you had this porblem or gotten this type of feedback? Thanks

Steve, I've not had any problems with slippage when wearing my TRUES. I've only worn them for 1 full round, but I've hit over 1000 balls on the range wearing them. Without the "platform" on the sole that other shoes have I find that I'm more balanced on my swing and follow through than I've ever been. I have not worn them in extreme wet conditions yet, but I'm not anticipating any more slippage problems than I would experience with old style golf shoes.

Ross, I've been wearing mine as every day shoes since I got them. I'm sure it shortens the lifespan a little bit, but I can't imagine the additional wear is too significant.
