Congratulations to Darren Clarke for his Open Championship win at Royal St. George’s this past weekend. I was out of town so unfortunately I didn’t get to see any of the tournament. From what I picked up here and there it sounds like he played well and deserved the win.
I don’t follow a lot of pro golf, so I wasn’t real familiar with Clarke’s personal story. Having lost his wife to cancer 5 years ago I think it’s pretty safe to say that a good portion of the golfing world was rooting for him bring the jug home.
So we can chalk up another major win for a Northern Ireland player. There must be something in the water up there. That’s 3 major winners from the tiny country in 13 months time. Pretty amazing. Great job Darren!
